Release notes

Last updated: 5 October 2026

0.1.0 · First alpha

Released: [date] · Apple silicon Mac · macOS 12 Monterey or later · Türkçe, English, Deutsch, Français, 日本語, 한국어

The first public version of Merceq.

Import

  • Verified copies from card to drive: every file is compared with the original, the card is read once, a dated folder is made at the destination and an ASC MHL record is written.
  • If the card is pulled or the app closes, the transfer carries on where it stopped. Your Mac stays awake while it runs.
  • Import in place: your files stay where they are. Many formats and cameras are recognised.
  • Import from an iPhone (with Link), and new videos from folders you choose to watch.

Review and cull

  • Overview, Lens and list views.
  • Large preview: name, note, tag, folder, scenes and clip info.
  • J·K·L playback at 1.5x and 2x, and frame stepping.
  • HDR, Apple Log and S-Log3 in normal colour; heavy clips play smoothly from a 1080p preview copy.
  • Folders with 1–9, Hold with F, Out with R, undo with ⌘Z.
  • Compare, similar clips, duplicates and the shot list.
  • Search across file names, notes, tags, folders and cameras, with field and date conditions, and saved searches.
  • Measured gray filters (dark clips, location, import batch and more) and the shoot calendar.

Sense (optional, about a 2.75 GB download)

  • Speech to text in six languages, downloadable as TXT and SRT.
  • Recognises pictures, text on screen and sounds.
  • Search by describing a scene: results come split into “certain” and “maybe”.
  • Search inside a clip, blue suggestion chips, folder name suggestions.

Recall

  • Put folders back as they were, find clips you kept but never exported, recognise videos you’ve seen before, your habits, archive clean-up and memory copies.
  • FCPXML 1.10 for Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve, XMEML v4 for Premiere Pro, with a report of anything that doesn’t carry over.
  • XMP sidecars, a selects package, an editor’s brief and delivery note, a list of what’s safe to delete, and a Shorts folder for CapCut.
  • Fix camera clocks and find markers you left while shooting.

Export

  • Copy, Link and Move; file naming, saved presets, a backup disk, ASC MHL and a receipt. Export runs in the background in Machine.

Machine

  • All background work in one place; each job pauses on its own. Work adapts to battery and memory.

Safety

  • The contents of your original files are never changed. Nothing is deleted for good: deleting only goes to the macOS Trash, and Finder’s Put Back works.
  • Catalog backups and restore; a backup is taken before every reset.

License and updates

  • A 14-day trial. After the first activation the license works offline, on 2 Macs at the same time.
  • Signed in-app updates, checked only if you allow it.
  • Open-source licenses can be read inside the app, offline.

Known limits

  • Sense’s blue chips and “maybe” results are guesses; sometimes they will be wrong or missing. Blur is a measurement but is shown in blue.
  • Sense is off on a new install. Picture analysis runs on the CPU, so it is slower than speech. Time remaining is left out on purpose. Background work waits when the battery is below 20%.
  • On a Mac with 8 GB of memory, heavy jobs run one at a time.
  • Not supported: Windows, Intel Macs, Avid, EDL, AAF and OTIO; normal colour for I-Log, D-Log M and GP-Log; Insta360 and DJI markers; reverse playback; redo.
  • Sending feedback and crash reports is only available with alpha and contributor licenses.
