9 · Back up and restore your library
Open the Backups window
There are two ways to see your backups:
- Click the Back up button in the bottom bar. Hover over it to see the note “Backs up your decisions and edits; video files aren’t included.”
- Use the Open backups button in the notification shown when a backup is created or the library is reset.
There’s also a red clear button beside Back up. It opens library reset options; details are in Pending deletion and reset.
- Back up is visible even when your library is empty. This lets you restore an existing backup on a new Mac or after a reset. clear appears only when there are clips in your library.
- These buttons are temporarily unavailable while an operation is in progress. Hover over them to see the warning “You can use this when the current task finishes.”
The Backups window has two areas:
- On this Mac: Records saved in Merceq’s own backup area. Each backup shows its name (or “Backup” if you didn’t name it), date, and “{n} clips · {n} decisions · {boyut}”.
- File backup: The Back up to file… and Restore from file… buttons are here.
If no backups have been created yet, you’ll see the message “No backups yet.”
