6 · Compare takes and choose what to use
Pick the first clip, find the second later
If the videos you want to compare aren’t next to each other, you can mark the first as a candidate and find the other one later.
- Hover over the first clip and press V. If it has no exact copy, Merceq marks it as a Duel candidate. If it has a copy, V opens copy comparison directly.
- The text Pick the second clip to compare appears where the search box is. Below it, you’ll see the tip “Click a clip in the grid, or move the cursor and press Enter.” The first candidate’s card is highlighted too.
- Find the other video you want to compare in your library.
- Choose one of these ways to select the second clip:
- Click the clip card.
- Move the cursor over the clip and press Enter.
- Press V again while on that clip.
- The two videos you selected open in the Duel screen.
You can’t compare a video with itself. Pressing Enter while you’re on the first candidate won’t open Duel. If you change your mind, press Esc to leave candidate selection.
You can also start from video preview. Open a clip with Space and press V while watching to mark it as a candidate. Move to another clip with the arrow keys, then press Enter or V. Preview closes and Duel opens.
