Start Sense now

When Sense is on, it automatically analyses clips it hasn’t analysed yet in the background. If you don’t want to wait, you can start this preparation yourself.

  1. Open Settings → Sense.
  2. Look at the Analyse all clips row. If clips are waiting for analysis, you’ll see the message “{n} clips haven’t been analysed yet. Start now if you don’t want to wait.”
  3. Press the Start Now button.
  4. In the “Let Sense analyse your clips?” window, review the number of clips and the estimated time. You’ll also see a warning if you’re on battery.
  5. Choose Prepare to start, or Cancel to change your mind.

You don’t need to wait again for clips that have already been analysed. This row doesn’t appear when there are no clips left to analyse. You also won’t see a separate start option while Sense is already working; instead, you’ll see progress such as “Looking at your videos · 3 / 105”. The start row may appear again if Sense is waiting because of battery, a transfer, or a pause.

The first preparation may keep your Mac busy for a while. Keep this in mind especially if you’re on battery. You can still continue manual culling, organising folders, and writing notes.
