Watch your video with your own LUT
Add your own .cube LUT file to see how your video looks with different colors. Turn the LUT on and off to compare before and after.
Choose a LUT
Choose a LUT in the Settings → Playback → LUT row.
- Open Settings and go to the Playback page.
- Click Choose… in the LUT row.
- Choose your file in the Choose a LUT (.cube) window that opens.
- The LUT is applied right away, and its name appears in the row. Merceq copies the file to its own data folder.
If you haven’t chosen a LUT, the row says None selected and the LUT button doesn’t appear in the lower row of preview.
Turn the LUT on and off
- In preview, click the LUT button on the lower row, just to the right of the speed button, to turn the LUT on or off. The button is colored when it’s on.
- The button hint shows the LUT’s name: “{ad} · on / off”.
- The button only turns it on and off; it doesn’t let you select a LUT or open a menu when right-clicked.
- There’s no shortcut for the LUT.
- There’s no LUT button in Lens view, but the LUT you turn on in preview is also applied to playback in Lens. Return to preview to turn it off.
Change or remove a LUT
In the Settings → Playback → LUT row:
- Choose… lets you select another .cube file; it replaces the old one.
- Remove removes the LUT from Merceq. The row says None selected again, and the LUT button disappears from preview. Remove looks dim when no LUT is selected.
Things to know
- You can use only one LUT at a time. You can’t select a separate LUT for each camera.
- Your selected LUT is remembered, but it starts turned off each time you open Merceq. Its on/off state lasts only for that session.
- Grid covers and thumbnails don’t use the LUT. Frames you save with Save the frame as a photo don’t use it either.
- Only 3D .cube LUTs are supported. Cubes can have up to 65 points and files can be up to 32 MB.
- Log clips: Merceq already converts clips it recognizes as S-Log3 or Apple Log to Rec.709 for preview. A LUT that also converts Log footage to Rec.709 may make the colors look wrong. Creative (look) LUTs with Rec.709 input look right.
