3 · Cull your clips and sort them into folders

Navigate your footage with the barcode

The thin lines beside the search field are a visual map that gives you a quick view of all your footage: the barcode. Normally, each line represents one clip and follows the sort order you chose. If there are many clips, one line may represent more than one; its color shows the dominant decision in that group.

  • Hover over a line: it becomes more distinct; you’ll see a small image of the clip, recording date and time, length, and status.
  • Click a line: go to the related clip. If it’s in another group, Merceq opens that group. This also lets you reach clips that aren’t visible on screen.
  • Click and drag: move quickly between clips.
  • Hover over counts such as Selected or Hold below the barcode: lines for that group become more distinct.

You can tell the culling status by color: undecided clips are gray, selected clips are green, clips on hold are yellow-orange, and rejected clips are red. Delivered clips also have a blue mark.

When you use search or filters, lines that don’t match look dim. The colored line below shows where the currently displayed clips are; a more distinct line shows the clip you’re on. Dashed marks separate groups from new imports. These group marks are hidden if you choose a sort order that doesn’t follow the date order.

While clips are being prepared, you may see animated progress marks in the lines. Use Mute the barcode from the eye icon beside it to pause only barcode updates; background preparation keeps running. Use Wake the barcode to see the current status again.
