Review certain and possible results
Merceq separates results into certain and possible matches. On the right of the search box, you’ll see {n} certain · {m} maybe.
- Certain results appear first; you can start your search here.
- Estimated results appear under the {m} maybe divider. The first 24 are shown.
- If there are more estimated results, click Show {n} more guesses.
- Open a result, look at the matching moment, and review Why it matched.
When there are no certain results, you’ll see this message: “No clip clearly matches this search.” Below it, you’ll see a Show {n} guesses anyway button and preparation status lines:
- “Speech searched in {done}/{total} clips”
- “Text searched in {done}/{total} clips”
- “Images searched in {done}/{total} clips”
On the right of the box, you may also see text such as “{n} clips by image” or “No certain match · {n} maybe”.
Certain and possible tell you how strongly a video matches your search; they don’t tell you whether it’s worth using. Review the result and decide whether to add it to a folder, hold it, or reject it.
While viewing search results, press ⌘A once to select only certain matches; press it a second time to select all clips shown on screen. Check how many videos you’ve selected before applying a bulk action.
