While a transfer is running
The progress row shows how many files are complete and which stage the transfer is at. Copying files, checking copies, and adding them to the library are separate stages. Even if the progress bar is nearly at the end, wait for the files to be checked.
Stages of importing in place
When adding files from where they are, the current and next stages appear below, for example, “Previews 120 / 400 → Audio”. The stages are:
Finding → Previews → Audio → Camera → Duplicates → Previews
The description above changes every few seconds (such as “Finding your clips” and “Picking a good frame for each clip”).
Progress when copying to disk
- Overall row: “X / Y files · a / b GB”.
- Below it, the current file: “{ad} — copying · a / b”, “{ad} — writing to disk”, or “{ad} — verifying the copy · %N”.
Buttons
- Keep running: You can keep using the app while the transfer continues in the background.
- Go to review: You can start reviewing clips whose transfer is complete.
- Stop: Stops the task. Files copied so far remain; you can continue later.
Keep running and Go to review appear only when importing in place. When copying to disk, only Stop is available.
While it runs in the background
- A thin blue line appears below the ▷ mark in the left rail. Press ▷ to open the Culling wing; at the bottom, it says “importing · X/Y”. When the task finishes, “N clips arrived” and Close appear; the row fades after six seconds.
- If new clips are added while you’re culling, a divider appears in the clip grid saying “N clips arrived later”.
If the task is waiting because the phone is locked or disconnected, unlock it and check the connection. If the source or destination disk has disconnected, reconnect the same device.
Finish or stop the task before ejecting the card or destination disk during a transfer. The ⏏ button beside Disks is inactive while the task runs.
If you want to quit Merceq before the transfer finishes (⌘Q), a “A transfer is running” confirmation appears: “If you quit now, the task will be interrupted. Completed files are safe; when you reopen the app, you can pick up where you left off.” Click Quit anyway to quit.
