Download Sense
If you’re using Sense for the first time, you need to download its files first. You can start the download from any of these three places:
- The “Download Sense · {boyut}” button in the top bar beside Undo. When you click it, a window introducing Sense opens. When the download starts, “Downloading Sense” and a spinning icon appear. Once progress is available, the percentage is shown too, for example “Downloading Sense · 42%”. If you click the same button during the download, Machine opens. The button disappears when the task is complete.
- The Sense switch in the Plugins window.
- The Download button in Settings → Sense.
- Start the download using one of these methods.
- Review the Sense window that opens the first time. It explains that Sense can find speech, on-screen text, and objects in images; analyses your videos on your own Mac; and doesn’t send them to the cloud or an external API. You can also see how much data will be downloaded and where the files will be kept on this Mac. You can remove downloaded Sense files later from Settings → Storage. The first analysis may keep your Mac busy for a while; if the battery gets low, the job waits and resumes when you plug in.
- Start with Download · {boyut}. Pressing Enter while the window is open also starts the download. Choose Not now if you don’t want to install it yet. If you don’t want to see this introduction again, select Don’t show again before pressing Download.
- Track progress in Settings → Sense or Machine.
While the download is running, Pause appears in Settings → Sense; when it is incomplete, Resume appears. When the files are ready, you’ll see “Ready · {boyut}”.
You need the internet for the first download. After the download is complete, analyses run on your Mac.
You’ll get a notification if the download fails. You can try again with the Manage Sense or Resume download button.
| Message you see | What should you do? |
|---|---|
| Download couldn’t be completed | Check your internet connection and try again. You can resume where it left off. |
| The downloaded file’s size didn’t match / couldn’t be verified | The faulty file is removed; it will be downloaded from the start next time you try. |
| Not enough free space — {n} GB required | Free up space on your Mac and try again. |
| A web page was downloaded instead of the requested file | Complete the sign-in page for the hotel or cafe network, then try again. |
