Clean up rejected clips during export

The Rejected row on the Summary step of the export window has three options and a link. Export steps are explained in Chapter 8: Export your selections.

Option What happens? Row explanation
Add to Pending deletion Clips leave the list and go to Pending deletion. Files stay on disk. “Remove from Merceq; files stay on disk ({boyut}). You can restore them from Pending deletion.”
Move to Trash Adds them to Pending deletion first, then moves files to the macOS Trash. “Goes to the Trash; emptying it frees {boyut}. Until then, you can restore them from Finder.”
Keep in place (default) Nothing happens. “Not exported; the files stay on disk.”
Review Opens the Rejected group in the grid.

The three options sit side by side; the selected one is marked. To change your mind, click another one. Add to Pending deletion and Move to Trash are disabled for rejected clips on a card, a network disk, or a disconnected disk; hover over them to see why. The status word on the right side of the row is Pending deletion, Trash, or staying.

When does this apply?

  • Your selected task applies after the transfer finishes completely and without issues, before the report.
  • It doesn’t apply to a stopped job, one interrupted because the disk is full, or one where the disk was ejected.
  • It only affects clips rejected when you confirmed Summary. Clips you reject while the transfer runs aren’t included in this task.
  • It doesn’t affect clips delivered in this transfer or files under the destination folder.

Card and disconnected disk:

  • The card has Merceq’s assurance above it: “{n} clips on camera/SD card — Merceq doesn’t delete anything on the card; these won’t be touched.”
  • When Move to Trash is selected: “{n} are on the card — the card won’t be touched; they stay where they are.”
  • If all rejected clips are on the card: “They won’t be transferred; they stay where they are on the card.” In this case, adding to Pending deletion and moving to Trash aren’t available.
  • Rejected clips on a disconnected disk aren’t moved. If they’re all there, these two options aren’t shown.

Preview warning: If Move to Trash is selected and you’ve watched some clips only from their preview copy, it says: “You saw {n} of these only in the 1080p preview. You can look at the original video once more before sending it to the Trash.” You can check with Review.

Result:

  • “{n} clips moved to the macOS Trash. {boyut} is freed when you empty the Trash; until then, you can restore them from Finder.”
  • If some couldn’t be moved: “… {n} clips couldn’t be moved; they remain in place.” In this case, the export report opens right away.
