Project folder: everything in one folder
Each export creates a new project folder at your chosen destination. Your videos, editing project if you have one, verification records, and delivery report are all inside this folder. Files aren’t scattered around different places at the destination.
For example:
<Destination>/
2026-10-16/ ← project folder
Ahmet/ ← folders you created
On hold/ ← if you selected on-hold clips too
2026-10-16.fcpxml ← project file for the app you chose
ascmhl/ ← file verification records
_Merceq_2026-10-16.csv ← delivery report
- Check the Project Name field. By default, Merceq enters today’s date (YYYY-MM-DD). The date is also used if you leave the field empty. You’ll see the note “A new folder with this name will be created at the destination; everything will be written inside it.”
- In the Folder and file layout preview, check which folders and files will appear inside the project folder. The editing project,
ascmhl/, and CSV record are shown here too.
If you export to the same location again, the previous project isn’t overwritten. For example, if a folder named Bali already exists, the next project is Bali 2, then Bali 3. Uppercase and lowercase don’t matter: bali and Bali count as the same name. Merceq shows the new name in the project tree and export report too.
To use your project, drag the project folder into your editing app or open the project file inside it. If you move the folder, your editing app may ask you to relink the media. In that case, use the app’s relink tool to point it to the new project folder.
Two rules apply to project names:
- The name can’t contain / or :. You’ll see the warning “The name cannot contain / or :.”
- The name can’t start with . (a period). You’ll see the warning “The name cannot start with a dot; macOS treats it as hidden.”
