Difference between Pending deletion and the macOS Trash
| Pending deletion (Merceq) | macOS Trash | |
|---|---|---|
| What does it hold? | A list of rejected clips you’ve set aside to delete. | The video files themselves. |
| Where is the video file? | On the disk, in its original location. | In that disk’s own Trash. |
| Does it free up space? | No. | When you empty the Trash. |
| How do you restore it? | From the Pending deletion window in Merceq. | In Finder, if you haven’t emptied the Trash. |
The Pending deletion window says: “Only clips Merceq moved here. Your Finder Trash isn’t touched.”
Culling isn’t deleting. A clip you reject with R goes to the Rejected group; it stays in the library and on disk. The Reject {N} clips button in the Quick filters wing also only sends clips to Rejected (see Chapter 3: Cull your clips and organise them into folders).
“Trash” on screen always means the macOS Trash. Pending deletion is the name of Merceq’s own list.
