Cleanup and reset
Removing a clip from the library, moving it to Pending deletion, moving it to the Trash, and resetting are different tasks. Before you start one, check whether it affects your file or only its record in Merceq.
| Task | What is removed? | What is kept? | How do you undo it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reject (R) | The clip leaves the group waiting for a decision. | Library record and video file. | Clear the decision or use ⌘Z. |
| Remove from Library | The clip’s record in Merceq. | Video on disk. | ⌘Z, Undo in the notification, or import again. |
| Move to Pending deletion | The clip’s appearance in the regular library. | Source video stays on its disk. | Restore from Merceq’s Pending deletion window. |
| Move to macOS Trash | Source video is moved from its location to the Trash. | Video can be restored until you empty the Trash. | Put Back in Finder; then import it again into Merceq if needed. |
| Reset the library | Decisions, notes, folders, or all library records, depending on the reset type you select. | Original videos. | Restore a .db backup from before the reset; ⌘Z won’t work. |
| Reset to factory settings | The library, settings, and files prepared by Merceq. | Original videos, license, installed plugins, and the backup from before the reset. | Restore the library from a backup; set other preferences again. |
Merceq doesn’t permanently delete video files. A file sent to the Trash is permanently deleted when you empty it. Emptying the Trash may also delete files put there by other apps.
Important: Merceq’s automatic reset backups only store library information; they don’t contain original video files. Before an important reset, it’s safer to also save a library backup to a file.
