Which method should I choose?

If your videos are already on the disk you want to work from, use Import directly. If you’re bringing videos in from a card or another device, you can copy them to the disk you’ll use first.

When importing from a phone, you must copy to a disk first. The phone source doesn’t have an Import option or Copy to disk first menu; its buttons at the bottom are Copy to disk, then import and Copy to disk only.
