Name a clip and add a note
You may not always be able to tell what a shot is from the filename given by the camera. You can give a clip your own name in Merceq.
- Select the clip and press Enter. Preview opens in the Rename field.
- Enter a name such as Night walk, First attempt, or Closing remarks.
- Save with Enter.
To add a note, select the clip and press N. Preview opens in the Add note field. For example, you could write “Audio is low in the first section; the last sentence may be useful.”
In the note field:
- Enter saves.
- Shift + Enter adds a new line.
- Esc saves and leaves the text field.
To delete your note, click the ✕ button beside the Add note heading (hover over it to see “Delete note”). The button appears only when the clip has a note. No confirmation is shown; if you deleted it by mistake, ⌘Z restores the note.
Clip names and notes are edited one clip at a time. If multiple clips are selected, these fields are off and it says “Cannot rename in multiple selection”.
