9 · Back up and restore your library

Save your backup to a file

If you want to keep a backup on an external disk or take it to another Mac, create a .db file.

  1. In the Backups window, click Back up to file….
  2. In the Save library backup window that opens, choose the folder where you want to save the backup.
  3. Merceq suggests a file name in the Merceq-yedek-YYYY-AA-GG.db format. If you make a second backup on the same day, -2 is added to its name. You can change the file name if you like.
  4. Click Save.

When the operation finishes, you’ll see the message “Library backed up: {n} clips, {boyut}.”

You can copy this .db file to your backup disk or move it to another Mac. Merceq’s automatic backup cleanup doesn’t touch this file. The Delete all option in the Backups window doesn’t delete .db files you’ve saved manually either.

Remember where you saved the file. You’ll need to select the same file when restoring it.
