Reset to factory settings
This option takes Merceq back to the day you first installed it. It deletes everything Merceq created; it doesn’t affect your videos or license.
- Open Settings → General and go to the bottom. The Reset to factory settings row sits in its own group, separate from other settings; below it you’ll see “Puts Merceq back the way it was when you first installed it.” You can also find it by typing “factory” in the Search field in Settings.
- Press the red Reset… button.
- Read the “Do you want to reset Merceq to factory settings?” question and the note below it, which opens in the middle of the Settings window. The rest of the window dims while the question is open.
- Press Reset everything to continue. Press Cancel to change your mind (Enter also cancels).
- Merceq closes automatically and opens again in its first-launch state.
Deleted: your library, decisions, notes, folders, all settings (theme, language, card size, subtitles, and others), prepared files (covers, playback copies, strips), downloaded Sense files, a copy of your selected LUT, work history, cache, and log records.
Kept: your videos (never affected), your license (you don’t need to activate it again), installed plugins, and the library backup made just before the reset.
A library backup is made before deletion, and the reset doesn’t delete this backup. To go back, choose Restore from file… in the window opened by the Back up button in the bottom bar; the backup is in Merceq’s data folder with a name starting “Merceq-sifirlama-oncesi-”. See Back up and restore your library for details.
Reset doesn’t start while an import or export is running; try again when the job finishes.
If you only want to reset your decisions, names, or library organisation, use the “What would you like to clean up?” bubble instead of this setting. Open the bubble with the Clean up button in the bottom bar or File → Reset Library… in the menu bar. It has four options: Reset triage decisions, Clear names, notes and tags, Reset decisions and organisation, and Reset the whole library. A backup is made before each reset. See Back up and restore your library for details.
