4 · Choose the best moments inside a clip

Add an exact time to your note

Instead of a vague reminder, you can write a note that identifies exactly which moment in the video you want to use.

  1. Go to the moment in the video you want to note.
  2. In the clip note field, place the text cursor where you want to add the time.
  3. Click Add time · 0:07. The current moment is added to the note as a timestamp such as [0:07].
  4. Write what happens beside it: [0:07] Start here; the sentence becomes clear.

The time isn’t automatically added to the end of the note; it’s inserted where the text cursor is. If text is selected, the timestamp replaces it. If there’s text before the cursor that doesn’t end with a line break, the time is added on a new line.

The video pauses when you click the button so you can write your note comfortably. The video plays again when you’re done.

When the note is saved, recognized times in it appear on the timeline as amber dots inside the audio waveform. Hover over a dot to see “Note · 0:07 · first words of your note”; click the dot to go to that moment. The [0:07] text in the note isn’t clickable; use the dot on the timeline to return to that moment.

You can also write the time yourself. The recognized formats are [m:ss] (for example, [0:07]) and [h:mm:ss] (for example, [1:02:15]).

This add-time action is for a clip note. Scene notes already have the scene’s own start and end times.
