6 · Compare takes and choose what to use
Comparison shortcuts
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| V | Opens Duel if two clips are selected, or copy comparison if three or more are selected. If you’ve already picked a candidate, makes the clip under the cursor the second candidate. If one clip has copies, compares them; if it doesn’t, makes the clip a Duel candidate. |
| Enter | Picks the second clip while choosing a candidate. In Duel, keeps the selected video and rejects the other. In copy comparison, rejects the files you didn’t select. |
| ← / → | Selects a side in Duel or a file in copy comparison. |
| Space | Plays or pauses the selected video in Duel. |
| M | Keeps both clips in Duel; puts clips not placed in a folder on hold. |
| Esc | Closes comparison or candidate selection without making a decision. |
| ⌘Z | Undoes the last comparison decision after returning to the main screen. |
Now you know which of your takes to use and which alternatives to keep. In the next section, we’ll prepare a shoot list and gather the footage your story needs.
