2 · Import your footage

Watch a folder for new files

If you always put new footage in the same folder, you can have Merceq watch that folder. Then you won’t have to search for it again each time.

  1. Open Settings → Playback (watched folders are at the bottom of the page).
  2. In Watched folders, click Add Folder… and choose your folder. You can choose more than one.
  3. When a new video arrives in the folder, a numbered button with a film icon appears in the top bar (hint: “N new videos”). Click it.
  4. Check the source and clip details in the New videos panel that opens.
  5. Click Add to library to import them all. While it adds them, it says “Adding to library…”. If you don’t want to import them, use Ignore.

Add to library imports all the videos in the list at once; you can’t select them one by one. New videos don’t appear in the Notifications section; they show only on the button in the top bar.

Details about the panel:

  • Each row shows the filename, length · resolution, date inside the video, and size. The date hint says: “This date comes from the video and may not be the actual recording date.”
  • Below the panel, it says “Videos are added to your library without being moved.”
  • If another task is running, it says “Wait for the current task to finish before continuing.”

Things to know:

  • Videos already in the folder before you start watching it aren’t counted; only ones that arrive later are candidates.
  • A video can be added to the list when its size and modification time haven’t changed for about 3 seconds. It won’t appear until copying is complete.
  • Click Remove to stop watching a folder.

Folder watching doesn’t add new videos to the library by itself. You start the import. Stopping the watch or choosing Ignore doesn’t delete source files.
