Place a clip in a slot
You can place one clip in each slot in your list. A slot’s name describes which section of the video that clip will fill.
- Select a clip from your library that you want to use.
- In the shot list, click the slot that the clip belongs in.
- Check the image, file name, and duration shown in the slot.
If you like, you can drag a clip directly from its card and drop it onto the slot.
When you hover over a slot, you’ll see a short instruction:
- Empty slot: Click: put {ad} here; the selected clip’s frame appears dim, and it may say {ad} → here.
- Filled slot: Click: replace with {ad}.
- No clip selected: Select a clip first or drag one here.
- A tip appears once on the first empty slot, explaining that you can drag a clip from the library or select it first and then click the slot.
How much of the list is ready? The heading shows the filled / total count. The duration beside it is the sum of the full durations of the clips you’ve placed. For example, 3/5 · 1:24 means you’ve placed clips in three of five sections and their total duration is 1 minute 24 seconds. This isn’t the duration of the finished video or of your selected scenes.
Each slot also has a progress line. If the list is incomplete, you’ll see N scenes missing; when it’s complete, you’ll see List complete.
Number on a clip card: A clip in the active shot list has a small number on its card showing its position in the video. Hover over it to see the Scene N in the shot list tooltip. This number remains visible for the active list even when you close the list window.
Your folders and culling decisions stay as they are. Adding a clip to a shot list doesn’t remove it from its current folder. You can use a clip that doesn’t have a culling decision yet. However, rejected clips can’t be added to a list.
Numbers on the slots show the story order. The 1–9 keys on your keyboard remain folder shortcuts; they don’t select shot list slots.
You can’t add the same clip to two different slots in one list. You can use it in different shot lists. If you remove a clip from the library, its slot in the list becomes empty but the slot itself remains.
