Reset the library: What would you like to clean up?
Use the reset bubble to clean up library records in bulk. Your videos aren’t touched.
To open the bubble:
- Press the red Clean up button on the left of the bottom bar. Hover over it to see “Clears the library’s records without changing your videos.”
- Or choose File → Reset Library… from the menu.
Clean up doesn’t appear when the library is empty. It’s disabled while a job is running.
The bubble heading is What would you like to clean up? Below it is this assurance: “Your videos stay where they are. A backup is made before each reset; you can return from Backups.”
| Option | Deleted | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Reset triage decisions | Culling decisions. All clips return to the queue. | Folders, tags, notes. |
| Clear names, notes and tags | Custom titles, notes, and tags you’ve written for clips. | Decisions and folders. |
| Reset decisions and organisation | All decisions, folders, scenes, tags, and notes. Card size in the grid returns to Medium. | Clips and thumbnails. |
| Reset the whole library | Everything; details below. | Your videos stay on disk. |
- Open the bubble.
- Click an option.
Attention: The first three options don’t ask for confirmation; they take effect as soon as you click. If you’re not sure, first back up your library to a file. They can’t be undone with ⌘Z.
- Merceq makes a backup before each reset.
- A reset can’t be undone with ⌘Z. Undo history is cleared too.
- Result: “The library was reset. Its previous state was saved as a backup.” The notification has an Open backups button.
- A reset can’t run while an export or delete job is in progress: “Wait for the current transfer or delete to finish, then try again.”
Close the bubble with Esc.
