12 · Set Merceq up for how you work
Review kept files
The Kept group shows files that cleanup doesn’t affect. These rows have no cleanup button; you can only see how much space they use. A row appears only when it contains files.
| Row | What’s inside? |
|---|---|
| Session backups | Sessions in the Backups window. |
| Automatic backups | Library copies Merceq creates automatically before a reset or version change. |
| Unfinished transfer records | Records kept so unfinished transfers can resume where they left off. |
| Plugins | Plugin files. |
| iPhone package | The copy on your Mac of the library sent to iPhone. |
| Set aside for recovery | A library that couldn’t be opened and was set aside. |
| Your decisions and edits | Clip names, decisions, tags, notes, and speech text. |
| Other files | Files of unknown origin in Merceq’s folder. Cleanup leaves these alone so nothing is deleted by mistake. |
Some rows may have a warning below them:
- If Session backups have accumulated: “There are many session backups…”. Old backups are deleted automatically. See Back up and restore your library for details.
- In the Set aside for recovery row: “A library couldn’t be opened once. It wasn’t deleted; it was set aside here, and Merceq opened with a new library. To return to your decisions, restore the latest session from Backups.” In this case, follow the Library couldn’t be opened steps in Troubleshooting.
