12 · Set Merceq up for how you work
Review storage usage
- Open Settings → Storage.
- See the “Space Merceq uses on your computer” total at the top.
- Read each share in the colour key below the bar: “Sense {boyut}”, “Prepared files {boyut}”, “Kept {boyut}”.
- Review which files are using space in the groups below.
The total here is for files Merceq has prepared and stored. Your videos aren’t included. Check free space on your video disk in the disks section.
The page has three groups:
Comes back if you delete it — Merceq prepares these so you can browse your videos quickly. If you delete them, they’re prepared again when needed.
| Row | Note |
|---|---|
| Cover images | A frame shown for each video in the grid |
| Scrub frames | Frames shown while scrubbing with the mouse |
| Preview strips | Strips that make scrubbing smoother |
| Playback copies | Small copies that help demanding videos play smoothly |
| Old Sense files | Files left over from an older installation. Only shown if such files exist. |
Sense — Downloaded Sense files. Note: “If you delete them, you’ll need to download Sense again.”
Kept — Decisions, notes, backups, and plugins. Cleanup doesn’t affect these.
The Reset to factory settings row isn’t here; it’s at the bottom of the Settings → General page. See Reset to factory settings.
When usage grows, look at the largest group. Reviewing playback copies that take up a lot of space may make more sense than cleaning a few small cover images.
