Set up the folder structure

Resulting Structure determines how videos are grouped inside the project folder. When this section is closed, you’ll see the layout as A → B.

  1. Open the Resulting Structure section.
  2. Use + Field to add the criteria you want: Your folder, Tag, Camera, Date, Direction, or Decision. Project Name isn’t one of these criteria; the project folder is always created at the top level.
  3. Change the order of criteria with the ◀ ▶ (Move left / Move right) buttons.
  4. Remove a field you don’t want with ✕.
  5. Review the structure in the Folder and file layout preview.

The default criterion is Your folder. For example, if your footage is in two folders, it’ll be exported like this:

2026-10-16/
  B-roll/
  Main clips/

If you also want to separate footage by camera, use the Your folder → Camera order. This creates subfolders for each camera inside each folder. The order of criteria determines how folders are nested.

If folder names differ only by letter case (Ahmet and ahmet, for example), Merceq groups them into one output folder. Files with the same name are numbered if needed.

Clips you haven’t placed in folders: If you included clips waiting for a decision or on hold in the Summary screen, they’re written to the In queue/ or On hold/ folder. Rejected clips aren’t exported.

If a source disk isn’t connected: You’ll see the note “{disk} isn’t connected — the layout will appear here when you connect it.” beside the file layout.

If there are multiple copies of the same file: You’ll see the note “{n} clips are copies of the same file; it will be exported once.”
