10 · Organize your cameras and sources

Work by source

Source information helps you find which folder, card, or disk a video came from. You’ll find it in the Where from section of the All filters window.

  1. Press L to open All filters.
  2. Find the Source row in the Where from section.
  3. Click the chip for the source you want. Only clips from that source appear.
  4. If you like, narrow the results further with camera, date, or technical filters.

Filter by the group you imported. The Import row in the same section lists each import by name and date, with the newest first. Choose one to see only clips brought in during that import.

Camera and source are different kinds of information. A disk may contain footage from three cameras; footage from one camera may also be spread across several disks. Camera identifies the device that took the shot; source helps you identify where you accessed the file.

To go to the actual source folder, use Show in Finder from the clip’s right-click menu. Use Copy file path to get its location. You can also show the selected clip in Finder with ⇧⌘R.

If you rename the source folder in Finder, the source row moves to the new name when Merceq finds the files again.
